Simplicity 8053 View E Shirt

I made another version of S8053; this pattern comes with so many variations, most of which I really like. My first version has been worn so many times so I wanted to make another one. This one is view E of the pattern with a v-neckline and it was much quicker to make than view A, which has a collar. Once again I forgot to match the lines prior to cutting the fabric, but the fabric is so busy to where it doesn't look too bad. JoAnn had an amazing sale on plaids recently so I got 1.5 yards of this fabric for a little over $5. I also bought it in green, which I'd like to use to make view A again.

I love, love the v-neckline. I didn't make any changes to the pattern. I already had it cut to size 8 from the previous version but Simplicity patterns come with a lot of ease so it still fits really well and is quite comfortable. There's a pleat at the back, although it doesn't show very well on the plaid.

For my next project I'm working on B6060 skirt and M2818 top.

Have a wonderful week and happy sewing!!

  1. Okay, we are definitely pattern twinsies! I have that one too, and I love your plaid version! I can see the pleat in the back, and didn't even the plaid matching. Nice!

  11. I love this little shirt - what a fantastic idea to make it in a plaid. I too have this pattern, and may borrow your idea. You look lovely in it and the V neckline is a lovely change from the usual collar.

  13. I love your shirt too! The fit and the fabric are both perfect! I've been wanting a plaid shirt every since I made a couple for my husband a few years ago! Unfortunately, it's never happened yet. I think you may have inspired something!
