McCalls M7085 Tweed Dress

I feel like a million bucks! I really love how this dress turned out. It took me a bit longer than usual because it's fully lined, which is something I've fallen in love with so I plan to line most of my dresses from now on. I made view F with three-quarter length sleeves and a princess neckline. The finished garment measurements stated on the pattern were exact and there's no ease at all; I cut size 12 and needed every bit of it! Initially I wanted to make a wrap dress but I only had a 1.5 yards of fabric so it wasn't enough. I'm glad that didn't work out because I think this design worked much better for the fabric.

The only modification I made to the pattern was the addition of square pockets on the front, which was suggested by my sister. She thought that having pockets with gold buttons would add a youthful feel to the tweed dress, and I'm really glad I went with it because it looks so much better with the pockets.
The fabric is medium weight, and with the dress being fully lined, it's really warm and perfect for our mild Texas winters. Wearing it during summer will be almost impossible so I'm glad we still have a few months for me to enjoy wearing it. I mentioned in my previous post that my co-worker brought this fabric from China and she's been looking forward to seeing it as a garment. I can't wait to wear it to work on Monday.
Overall this was an easy sew and I can see myself making another version. The fit is perfect and the dress is very comfortable. The pattern actually has six different views so I think a summer version of the dress would be great.
I hope you guys have a wonderful rest of January, and happy sewing!
