About

Welcome! My name is Olivia, and through this blog I hope to inspire other professional women to make and wear their own clothes.

Today's sewing market is filled with a wide variety of beautiful fabrics, sewing patterns, notions and trims to allow any woman to easily create beautiful and professional-looking clothing of their own. In addition, there are plenty of sewing classes available online, as well as a growing community of blogger-sewists offering great tips and advice to get anyone started. While saving you a lot of money, sewing provides an opportunity to tailor a wardrobe that suits your body.

Now, I am an avid reader and history-lover. I enjoy doing research on various subjects ranging from theology to the arts. So I'll be sharing, via this blog, some of my findings on the history of sewing. I'm always fascinated by how people in different parts of the world live - from what they eat, to what they wear, and everything in between.

I took four years of "Fashion & Fabrics" in high school and absolutely fell in love with sewing. But unfortunately, I haven't sewn anything since then! (Its been a really long time). I'm eager to develop my sewing skills so that my wardrobe consists mostly of self-made clothing. Additionally, I'd like to network with fellow sewists to learn from them as well as encourage each other.

  2. Hi Olivia, I love sewing for myself too. As a working professional it can be challenging at times. Kudos to you for taking the time to sew beautiful clothing for yourself. If you live in the Houston area, perhaps we can meet up one day soon! Patricia

    1. Hey Patricia; thank you so much for your kind words. It is very challenging to fit sewing into my busy schedule. Right now I only sew on the weekends. But it's so worth it. I'd love to meet you too; I live in the Dallas metroplex. Please contact me if you're ever in my area.
